Stratfor, the "private CIA," is forecasting the following:
Israel will invade Lebanon deeply, crush Hizbollah, and pull out quickly. Israel has called up its reserves, which it does not do except for large operations. Stratfor thinks Israel will continue its present, smaller operation to move Hizbollah's rockets back, away from Israel. Then the full invasion should begin this weekend, when mobilization is complete.
Unless Syria quickly agrees not to respond, Israel will also take out Syria's air force, in order to protect the left flank of the Israeli invading force.
The invasion could be stopped only by Syria, if it can convince Israel that it will suppress Hizbollah. Egypt's present talks with Syria may be about this option. Stratfor thinks Syria will drop the ball by doing nothing.
